‘Stand-up’

Today's OneWord is Stand-up'.

Is your self-image gone and remarkably low? Are you the brunt of offensive jokes? Do the best people, used, and abused by the worst, shun you? Are you broken and bleeding? Is your spirit wounded? Someone reading this today may feel this way. We think we have nose-dived wretchedly, and though time has passed, we still feel guilt, disgraced, and insecure. We feel too timid and easily broken to pick ourselves up and move on.

Today, if this is you, it must stop. Stand-up. Stand-up for what is right! Do not end 2012 in defeat, uncertainty, and untruth. Our attitude determines our actions. Stand-up for yourself! Stop letting people choose whom you are. Ask yourself who are you? Place you name in the __ Who? And begin to seek it, say it, and settle it! Let enough be enough! Go to the place where you can answer the question with clarity, "Am I important?"

When we can answer this question, it builds our capacity to appreciate the abundances of everyday pleasures. What a blessing to be alive? Knowing whom we are brings blessings such as peace in the present moment, satisfaction in the simplicity of life, joy in the ability to take a pleasant walk, and delight in talking with a loved one about serious things. It is a choice, and we get to choose.

Make a commitment to by reading the following:
God will not allow me to suffer more than my capacity. He will never let me put myself down or do anything to hurt me. He shows me unconditional love, and I must do the same. I will seek to find help and support when I do not know where to turn. If I am down, I can call on God and He will help me encourage myself. I am important, and I matter. What I think about myself, I care. I am no longer a punching bag, or the subject of humiliation and degradation. I am important, and I matter. No matter what I find out about myself, I am committed to stand-up. I will no longer allow you to criticize me, put me down, cheat on me, abuse me, or mistreat me. I am important, and I matter. I am someone special. I have dreams, goals, and plans for the future. I can no longer allow you to hinder me, so I will stand-up and move forward. Today, I make a commitment to love me. And there is nothing you can do about it. I take my rightful position in my own life because I am important and I matter. I stand-up today because my name is __and, I approve this message.
Today, I stood up because I am important, and I matter.

Much love, Monica

'Attitude'

Today's OneWord is 'Attitude'

What is your attitude like this morning? Did you wake up grateful, thankful, and with a heart full of love? On the other hand, did you wake up mad at the world, feeling sorry for yourself, or miserable? If the later circumstance is you, then go back to bed and start over. Our attitude affects our choices, decisions, and outcomes.

Our attitude is the reason many people are alone. They do not realize that people who have goals, dreams, aspirations, a job, a life, and love peace choose not to be in the company of someone who has a negative, critical, and faultfinding attitude. Look around this is the reason you alone. If you are, always talking about whom you do not like and what they did wrong. Why did he marry her, or look how she is dressed? That is too much energy on the wrong agenda.

There is a root. Many times behind this mask are a lot of hurt, bitterness, and unforgiveness. It is a critical heart problem. This heart condition is painted with resentment, envy, and jealousy. When we find ourselves putting others down and finding fault with what others are doing it is time to check the risk factors for heart failure. The risk factors can lead to a serious of symptoms, and if left unchecked can even lead to death. You will have to undergo tests and find the proper diagnosis. All of this can be cured when we start with the causes of this heart failure. More than not, if we go back to our youth and begin to look at the beginning stages of when the hurt, bitterness, and unforgiveness started, we are able to seek God for the treatment. Seeking God for treatment will require a lifestyle change and plenty of home remedies, like prayer and study.

Not looking at others to level the playing field, change requires us to look at the direction of our own lives. Remember the Israelites wondered in the wilderness for 40 years and the trip was only eleven days. Having a significant heart condition affects our attitude. It harms our relationship with God and others, and it will block the flow of God's abundant blessings.

Today, if you have the wrong attitude, it is time to address the issue and seek healing. It is true of the saying "hurt people, hurt people". I challenge you if heart symptoms from your past have crept into your life and are affecting you find a way to forgive. The indiscretion must be addressed. Write a letter, place a call, or set up a meeting in order to prevent heart failure. More than we tend to remember, our children are affected and pick up early attitudes from us.

Father, thank You for Your Son, who died on the cross for my sins. Forgive me for thinking so highly of myself, which caused my attitude to be wrong. Lord bring the face of the person I have wronged to mind so that I might acknowledge and ask forgiveness. "Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me." Amen.

‘Testing’

Today's OneWord is 'Testing'

Today is the day the Lord has made, and we are to be glad!

The Lord tests our faith, not just in the great crisis of life, but even more in the small unexpected events, such as a sudden sickness, spouses upset us, co-workers frustrations, lost keys, ice maker will not work, or an irritating interruption. The way we respond in these situations will indicate what is in our heart. What life does to us depends on what life finds in us. If we love and trust the Lord, we will leave the matter with Him and do what He tells us. However, if we question the Lord and rebel because we are not getting our way, we are in danger of not passing the test.

We must have a grateful heart. If we are in the habit of thanking the Lord in everything, including the painful experience of life, then the Holy Spirit will fill our hearts with love and praise instead of Satan filling us with bitter venom.

Rest assured "Massahs" (testing) and "Meriahs" (quarreling) are marked on our journey of faith. We can shut the door in Satan's face and pass this test. We are going to be challenged. However, we will not quit and give in to our fears. Let us stand boldly on Isaiah 41:10, "Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand."

Let us be grateful and thankful in all situations no matter what. I am grateful to God that His mercies are new every morning.

"Strutting"

Today's OneWord is "Strutting"

If you are sick and tired, then pray. If you are overwhelmed and emotional, then pray. If life circumstances are out of control, then pray. If you are at a stand and do not know which way to go, then pray. If you have relationship issues, then pray. If you have financial issues, then pray. If life is swell and you are living your best life, then pray. If you are healed, then pray. If life is tickling your fancy and you are hyena happy, pray harder. No matter what is happening in our life, we need to pray.

When we pray, we are communicating to God that we trust Him. No matter what our mess looks like now, God will take the trouble and give us freedom. Life is a test that has to be studied every day. There will be times were we can prepare properly. On the other hand, we might wake up and be giving a pop quiz. God wants us ready at all times to handle the test. God continuously wants to use us. Pain does not discriminate. Pain does not care who we are, whom we know, how much money we have, or what we look like. Pain will come, and trails cause pain.

Despite the trails and pain in life, God wants us to "Count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience" (James 1:2.3). God did not bring us this far to let us fail. He believes in us. People may have said that you cannot make it. We must recognize that God blocked that weapon of destruction. He loves and believes in us. Look back over your life and realize that you cannot make it without Him. We are counting it all joy because those weapons that were formed against us failed. We prevailed. We made it through the tests and the pop quizzes. He is giving us an opportunity to "strut our stuff!"

"Authentic"

Today's OneWord is "Authentic"

Get acquainted with your genuine or authentic self. Paul tells us in 2 Corinthians 8:7, "But as you excel in everything-in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in all earnestness, and in our love for you-see that you excel in this act of grace also." We are to live by going and doing our best every day to enjoy our most precious asset, life.

When we are true to ourselves, we do not allow the cares of the world to overtake our renewed mind. Do not experience a spiritual encounter of self-talk or excuses. Anytime we allow our actions or words to affirm our rights or highlight the strength of our passions to get what we want, we are living a dangerously life. We can make whatsoever justifiable, it seems, if we feel strongly enough. You are not to make excuses for being yourself, be you. We are not to accept what label people have placed on us, but live by God's definition. He is our greatest asset and coach.

Our new mantra should be, "I am living an authentic life. There is no stopping me now! I am on the move". Live the authentic life.

"Guarantee"

Today's OneWord is "Guarantee"

Father, in the name of Jesus, You make Your face shine upon and inform us about whom we are in You. Father, we thank You for being gracious, kind, merciful, and giving to us because we are Your children. We are the head and not the tail. We are above only and not beneath.

Thank You for favor in helping us to celebrate Your Kingdom and Your righteousness. Father, we diligently strive to do well. Father, we need to be a blessing for You and to others. Thank You that Grace (favor) is with us, because we love You in sincerity. Father, we are eternally grateful that You extended Your love, favor, honor, and peace to us.

Father, we thank You for already meeting our needs, and we have no wants. Your Word says in Matthew 6:31-33: "Therefore do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you" Your Word says in Philippians 4:19: "And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus."

Father, You are pouring out upon us the Spirit of favor. You shield us with glory and honor, for we are Your children.

Now Father, we realize we are helpless without You! We let go, and put aside all previous sources of our pain and suffering, in order that we might experience favor with Christ and become one with Him.

Lord, we unfold our history and put into proper perspective those things that are behind. We trust in You, with all our heart and lean not on our own understanding. In all our ways, we acknowledge You, and You will make our paths straight.

We know we are not perfect and we have not learned all we should, but we keep working toward that day when we finally become all that Christ wants us to be.

We guarantee this prayer with the BLOOD OF JESUS. Amen.

"Children"

Today's OneWord is "Children"

The world has taken our children, and we need to get them back. Society has totally brain washed our children with all kinds of negative images. Videos, social media, peer pressure, and bullying are constant features in a child's life today. The average child spends more time learning the words to an unhealthy song than studying for an important test, learning the newest dance instead of enhancing a God given talent, lowering their dignity in place of learning how to be an ambassador for Christ. In addition, they sit in front of the TV all day watching all the reality TV shows, other than picking up a book to do their homework, volunteering in the community, helping a fellow peer, or doing something worthwhile in society. We have children talking back to their parents, unappreciative of their parent's sacrifice, doing all types of drugs, in and out of jail, and dropping out of school at an early age. As I sit back and think about our children, I realize that the problem is most parents today are worried about upsetting their children, trying to be their friends, and accepting their disrespected behavior towards others, when they should be worried about living on purpose and how to please God.

Our children are heading down a path of destruction, and if we do not take control of the situation 'right now', they will continue to fall by the waste side. As parents, we need to start leading by example, teach our children how to be respectful to one another and teach them the ways of the Lord. We need to become more aware of what our children are doing in school, doing in the church, doing at home as well as what they are doing on their spare time.

We are living in a world today where children are not just talking back to their parents, they are being physically aggressive. Physical abuse is addictive, and need to be handled as a serious offense. A child who hits their parents, talks rudely to his or her parents, once or twice, and get away with it will continue the behavior, and it will progressively get worst.

The Bible tells us, "Children, be obedient to your parents in all things". God said when we teach our children according to His ways, it pleases Him. Parents it is time to ensure our children are creating a productive environment not one that takes from it. Do not agree with our children when they are wrong or disruptive. Let us teach them the correct way. Remember the saying. "The apple does not fall too far from the tree." Parents protect our children; they are the next generation. We are to take our place in their lives and be responsible adults and represent in a positive way.

Walking!

Today's OneWord is "Walking"

Many years I wondered what it felt like in my mother's womb. I wondered if she rubbed her stomach when I kicked. Did she smile when I gave her heartburn? Was I going to make a difference in her life? Was she excited about my future, the unlimited possibilities that God had for me. Was she excited about my birth? I wondered if she were ready to love or receive unconditional love. Today, I still do not know the answer, but I can tell you God knew the outcome.

I knew that if God loved me, I could do incredible things. I could accomplish anything. I could achieve anything. I could believe the impossible. I could learn anything. There is no doubt that God loves me. What can stand against me now? I knew if I could rise, if I could trust, if I could open my heart, I could win. I did not know the outcome, but I knew that if I played the victim, If I did not love, If I did not forgive, I would die. God knew that once I started walking there was no stopping me. He knew that I was not capable of staying in the valley too long. Because God loves me, He knew I may lie down at the bottom of the mountain, but once I rose, I was going to have some mountain top moments.

I could not see and know everything about what happened, but one day I knew I would get answers. Something inside of me could not stop hoping, pushing, and believing. Something about my life kept drawing me closer to God. Something about His power and peace that kept telling me that I was not standing alone on the edge of the cliff, I did not have to jump. Therefore, since I had to endure the pain or pay the price to live, I decided to keep on walking. I decided I was not going to look back, but I was going to have the determination and courage to succeed, to win back a better, kinder, healthier me.

Maybe you are at the edge of the cliff like I was, stuck on if; wondering about the past, "Can I make it? Can I rise? If I jump will God catch me?" I know that if you never believe, if you never trust, you will never know. Sometimes you have to take a leap of faith and trust God. One thing I know, I know that I am a witness because I kept walking.

"Yearning"

Today's OneWord is "Yearning"
I pray for Your children according to Colossians 1:9-12 (Message), "Be assured that from the first day we heard of you, we have not stopped praying for you, asking God to give you wise minds and spirits attuned to His will, and so acquire a thorough understanding of the ways in which God works. We pray that you will live well for the Master, making Him proud of you as you work hard in His orchard. As you learn more and more how God works, you will learn how to do your work. We pray that you will have the strength to stick it out over the long haul-not the grim strength of gritting your teeth, but the glory-strength God gives. It is strength that endures the unendurable and spills over into joy, thanking the Father who makes us strong enough to take part in everything bright and beautiful that He has for us."

I pray that Your son/daughter who has a critical need, or any hardship that is giving them grief, sleepless nights, worry, and keeping them trapped that You grant them increased faith. Let us begin to cry out and say, "Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on us! Save us from ourselves." Father, we believe because we know about Jesus' reputation. We trust and know Jesus as a Healer, a Provider, a Counselor, the Prince of Peace, and a Way Maker. Father, we activate our faith by calling on the name of Jesus. We believe and expect the impossible. Father, we pray that each of us step out in faith and receive Your promises today. Lord come and show Thyself to us. We yearn to be near You. This we ask in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ who loves us. Amen.

"Cheerful"

Today's OneWord is "Cheerful"

Why are Christians not happy? What causes us not to be the most cheerful people in the entire world?  What is it that makes you happy? What cheers you up or makes you smile? Is it your children? Is it the material things we own? Is it our marriage or the status we have? Is it our health or our jobs? Just what is it that brings you joy? We have buy things. We increase in things, and we multiply in things, but then we add God. Why are Christians not cheerful? Maybe it is God's position in our life.

"Me"

Today's OneWord is "Me"

God loves us. He created us to because He loves us. When He created the heaven and the earth and all things that are upon the earth, He kept saying, "It was good" (Genesis 1:4, 10, 12, 18, 21, 25). However, when God created you and me in His own image He looked and said, "It was very good" (Gen. 1:31). He rejoiced in the fact that He created something very good. And He was glad about it. He is the same omniscient, awesome, eternal, all wise, the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, invisible God, infinite, boundless, the God of our mothers and fathers, and the God we call "our Father which art in heaven." God made everything and contains it all in His heart. He cannot be measured or weighed. You cannot apply distance, space, or time to Him. God rises above all things, at the same time He is a gentle, good-natured, gracious, loving, and kindhearted God. It gives Him good pleasure to see His children with joy. He was willing to send His Son to die for humanity.

It is impossible for God to be anything and not be perfect. Only God can claim perfection. When we say that God is good, that His loves endures forever, we mean that He has a heart that is infinite, compassionate, and boundless. God is mercy. He never changes. Scripture says that He is, "upholding all things by the Word of His power". (Heb. 1:3).

God holds the whole world in His hands. It is natural to grumble or complain when we are deprived of the things upon which we had set our hearts. Often we will have a struggle inside because the carnal mind wants to forget about all things we said about God above. But when we reflect on His attributes or the one who has given Himself unselfishly, the inner voice in us will say, "peace be still, it is will well with my soul".

Today resolve this inner conflict with "Peace be still" (Mark 4:39). Do not box me in or enclosed me in a circle. You can take everything I have, but let me be me as God promised, I will still become what He has created me to be.
