Today's OneWord is "Bravery"
I do not like rejection. I do not like being afraid. I do not like to fight. Definitely, pain is not my friend. Seriously, who likes any of these things anyway? However, we will allow some of these things to keep us from dancing for joy because we do not have the courage to move forward. We live in the areas of regret and fear. We are afraid of people leaving us, fear of people not liking us, fear of losing our jobs, and fear of the unknown. Yet, we try to justify the position by "keeping the peace," or "pleasing people," and including "keeping unity," but the real truth is, sometimes it is the lack of bravery.
God wants us to stand up for righteousness, stand up for truth, and stand up for the kingdom. God will be at our side, and He will never leave us. Paul told us in Roman 12:17, "Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everybody." Bravery is like the absence of fear. It is in the heart. As we begin to look at things in a different light, a spiritual boldness will take root, we will start asking ourselves questions about being bold. What is the right thing to do? Is this God's will? Are we going along to get along because of fear? God is faithful with His provision, promise, and presence. This does not mean everything will go smoothly, but it does mean that we trust Him. Paul told us to be 1 Corinthians 16:13, "Be alert. Stand true to what you believe and continue strong in faith. Be courageous, and be strong."
Today do not just go along to get along. When we see and know something is wrong, act and ask questions, but stand on the truth of God's Word. People are hurting, and if the church is hurting them where can they go. God is calling us to take our rightful place for justice, for doing what is right. Christians are manipulating many people with twisting the Word of God. Emotionalism has taken over, and everybody is up for grab. Many leaders are doing things their way and not seeking or asking God for discernment. Let us begin to look at the inner corruptness in the church without anxiety or discouragement, but simply trusting in God.
