"Wrestled"

Today's OneWord is "Wrestled"

All of our lives we have been wrestling with something. We wrestle with whom we are, what people call us, whose child we are, social issues, church issues, marriage issues, and family issues. At some point, we must stop wrestling and learn to rely on God.

Remember the story of Jacob when he wrestled with God. Jacob had become afraid of facing Esau because he remembers how he wrestled with those family issues the last time they saw each other. Jacob thought he was taken a sensible approach, a scheme, by sending his servants in different groups with gifts ahead of him to tell Esau he was coming. Sending the gifts were not the problem, but calling Esau, "my lord" and himself "your servant" was the matter. Jacob was trying to impress Esau with his wealth, but did not realize he was showing that he did not trust God. Instead of allowing God to work this out, as He did for Jacob with Laban, Jacob decided to handle things himself.

Jacob was afraid, and when he got scared, he reverted to his old ways of doing things. Remember, he was a trickster. Let us enter into a situation that we cannot handle or God is not moving fast enough. What we have in us will come back out of us. Many of us who are supposed to be walking by faith, but instead we continue to wrestle all night long. We wrestle for many years, and sometimes we wrestle our whole life in fear of the enemy or whatever distressing news may find our way. We struggle because we have not allowed God to use what we have been through to bless us. We wrestle because we cannot heal what we have not acknowledged.

Then we become like Jacob, we need to pray to the Lord the promises He told us. Remember, Jacob reminded the Lord of the promises He had made to him at Bethel, how He would bless him real substantial and multiply his descendants. How He would be with him and bring him back to his land. And do not forget, he reminded the Lord that He would accomplish His purposes in him and through him. When we pray these types of prayers, we must have faith. Faith is not scheming. No matter what we face or what fears may grasp our hearts and emotions, we can trust God to be faithful to His Word. We must begin to look at our own lives and see what schemes are up our sleeves that keep us wrestling all these years.

Jacob wanted Esau to accept him through all his scheming; this is what got Jacob in this position in the first place. Therefore, Jacob sent the gifts to Esau, but he stayed that night in the camp by himself. He was alone, and a man came and wrestled with him until the sun came up. When the man saw that he could not defeat Jacob, he struck Jacob's hip and put it out of joint. Let us pause for a moment; God meets us at whatever position He finds us in order to bring us to where He wants us to be. Jacob had spent most of his life wrestling with people. He wrestled with Esau, Isaac, Laban, and his wives. It is only befitting that God had to come to Jacob as a wrestler. This time Jacob decided to hold on until He blessed him.

What have God allowed to break us so that He can bless us? What has He changed our name to so that He can use us? I can see it is the beginning of a new day for us: He has broken us to bless us; He has knocked our hip out of joint to give us a new walk, and we have held on tight to have a new relationship with God.

We do not have to wrestle anymore; He won the battle and we received the victory. Now we can rely on God.

Never!

Today's OneWord is "Never"

When we have faith; we genuinely believe what God says. However, true faith displays itself in our actions. The Word of God says we are not saved by doing the correct works, but if we are saved, we will do the correct works because of being saved. Many times, we see people merely talking about faith, but as the Word says, "Faith without works is dead." Just talking about faith does not mean that we have faith. Today, let us check our faith by asking ourselves, "What promises has the Lord made to us that we presently trust Him to bring to fruition?" How are we responding?

Are we just going around quoting Christian clichés, 'I have faith of a mustard seed,' 'I am blessed and highly favored,' and 'Nothing is impossible for God?' Unless, there are actions, and our ways are pleasing to God, our faith is just blah, blah, and blah. We are just talking nonsense, empty babble.

It is easy to ignore a problem than to address it. If we have faith, we can stand and go through the problem knowing that the testing of our faith will produce perseverance and steadfastness will produce faith. Each of us is guilty of running from our problems. God has not made us cowards, but strong in His might. The more we ignore the problem the more difficult the issues become. We have to deal with it. Face it head on. Do not beat around the bush or peak around the corner. We are men and women of God who has already won the battle. Let us fight the right fight of faith.

Heavenly Father thank You for Your love and kindness. Heavenly Father, we ask you to forgive us when the words of our mouth have been fear-filled and negative than faith-filled. We need Your grace, which is only accessed through faith to help us grow stronger in Your Word. Today, we are declaring and decreeing some never again. Never again will we allow the devil to do what he wants in our life, but we will resist him, and he will flee. Never again will we listen or be vexed by an unclean spirit. Never again will we allow our faith to be hinder by generational curses in our life. We break every curse, for we have been redeemed. Never again will we allow the enemy to control our will, but we will submit our will to the will of God. Never again will we be beneath and not above. Never again will be we the tail, but the head. Never again will we allow the enemy to control our emotions, but live with joy and the peace of God. Never again will we walk by sight, but walk by faith. We declare and decree that we will live according to Your promises. And Your promises are 'Yes and Amen'. We love You and honor You. Amen.

Healthy!

Today's OneWord is "Healthy"
If we do not know, what we need then how can others know what we need. If we cannot identify our needs, do not expect them to be fulfilled. When we do not know what we want, then we move from one relationship to another relationship with the ideal that someone else can make life better for us. This type of behavior allows us to be drawn to people for need, not from a choice.

Let us look at this analogy about a dog and a tick. Ticks are parasites that live by sucking blood from warm-blooded animals. Their preferably target is a dog. Ticks bury their heads into a dog and live there happily, for however, long they choose until they are forcibly removed. If you have ever tried to remove one, it is not easy. This is what we get when we are in any type of additive relationship. Both people are feeding off each other. They both can be self-centered. They both react most of the time from the pain of their past wounds, thus draining the energy from the other person in the relationship. Many times things do not work out because one is like a tick sucking the life out of the other.

Why? They do not know what they want or have not healed those old wounds from the past.

When we are wounded, we attract people who we allow to stay until they are forcibly removed. You know the saying, "hurting people will hurt people." When adults are not able to communicate their needs, they will respond with behaviors like resentment, tantrums, and angry. Then when they react inappropriately to our outburst, we want to blame them. Many times, we want out, but cannot get out. It is easier to stay. We would rather stay in the pain than deal with healing our past wounds.

It is time to stop allowing people from sucking the life from us because we do not know who we are or what we want. Start seeking the truth about who we are. When we begin to value ourselves, we will break the cycle of shame, violence, and anger. We will become the man and woman of God that only allows healthy relationships in our lives. No matter where we are in life God loves us. He wants the best for us. He wants us to be whole and healthy. To get there, we must take steps to stop letting people stay until they are forcibly removed. Allow God to tear down the walls of past wounds and help us change. We were created to be healthy!

Bravery!

Today's OneWord is "Bravery"

I do not like rejection. I do not like being afraid. I do not like to fight. Definitely, pain is not my friend. Seriously, who likes any of these things anyway? However, we will allow some of these things to keep us from dancing for joy because we do not have the courage to move forward. We live in the areas of regret and fear. We are afraid of people leaving us, fear of people not liking us, fear of losing our jobs, and fear of the unknown. Yet, we try to justify the position by "keeping the peace," or "pleasing people," and including "keeping unity," but the real truth is, sometimes it is the lack of bravery.

God wants us to stand up for righteousness, stand up for truth, and stand up for the kingdom. God will be at our side, and He will never leave us. Paul told us in Roman 12:17, "Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everybody." Bravery is like the absence of fear. It is in the heart. As we begin to look at things in a different light, a spiritual boldness will take root, we will start asking ourselves questions about being bold. What is the right thing to do? Is this God's will? Are we going along to get along because of fear? God is faithful with His provision, promise, and presence. This does not mean everything will go smoothly, but it does mean that we trust Him. Paul told us to be 1 Corinthians 16:13, "Be alert. Stand true to what you believe and continue strong in faith. Be courageous, and be strong."

Today do not just go along to get along. When we see and know something is wrong, act and ask questions, but stand on the truth of God's Word. People are hurting, and if the church is hurting them where can they go. God is calling us to take our rightful place for justice, for doing what is right. Christians are manipulating many people with twisting the Word of God. Emotionalism has taken over, and everybody is up for grab. Many leaders are doing things their way and not seeking or asking God for discernment. Let us begin to look at the inner corruptness in the church without anxiety or discouragement, but simply trusting in God.

Speaking!

Today's OneWord is "Speaking"

"Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me." We have all heard this statement before and probably have used it many times to those who have taunted, ridiculed, or criticized us. This statement is not true! Words can and do inflict pain, sometimes deep emotional, psychological, or spiritual pain. Words can produce inner turmoil, discouragement, anger, fear, and bitterness.

Consider the spoken statements that could cause pain:
"I don't love you anymore."
"You can't do anything right."
"Nothing you do will ever matter or succeed."
"You are stupid."
"I do not want you around, never did, do not now and never will."
"You make me sick."

Think about the impact this may have on a person over time especially our family: husbands, children, wives, etc.

Our words can be painful and cannot be recalled.

Before we open our mouths to make a confession of what comes into our head, ask ourselves, "Who said it" What is the source?"

God gave us the ability to use our tongue to create a better life by speaking words that are full of faith and love. The choice is ours, whether we will speak them or not.

Before we speak today, ask ourselves, "Is this going to edify or tear down?" Let us use our tongue wisely!

Instantly!

Today's OneWord is "Instantly"

There was a woman in the Bible who has suffered many years. Matter of fact, she had been bleeding for twelve years. She had suffered intensely much from many doctors and had spent all that she had, but instead of improving, she was getting worse. When the woman heard about Jesus coming, she came up behind Him in the crowd and touched His garment. She thought, "If I can just touch Jesus' cloak, I will get well." Instantly her bleeding stopped, and she felt in her body that she was healed from her sickness. Jesus at once felt His power go out from Him. Therefore, He turned around and asked, "Who touched my clothes?" The disciples did not know who had touched Jesus. Finally, the woman shaking with fear came out; she told Jesus the whole truth. Jesus said to the woman, "You are made well because you believed; your faith has healed you. Go in peace; be healed of your affliction" (Mark 5:25-33). God always wants the best for us. He always wants to minister to us. He is always ready. The problem is we are not ready.

Instantly, when we are ready God can change our situations just as He did for this woman. Are you ready?

Gracious Father, at the beginning of our day, before we start running this day's race, we are going to set our eyes on the prize of Your upward call. Give us the strength and joy to see in our mind and wisdom in our heart the instantaneously power of Your love so that we can run this race well today. Help us to know that if we believe, our faith can increase through unexpected twists and turns, difficulties, and setbacks. We ask that You carry us, encourage us, and empower us so that we can think to ourselves that we can be healed, financially free, loved, rested, and refreshed. Gracious Father, expand the significance of our spiritual intimacy, concentration, and inspiration upon our world around us by guiding our lives and growing our faith through Your Word. Help us to express a heartfelt, contagious, and influential faith that reflects Your life for Your glory, for Your praise, and for Your awesomeness. We are walking by faith knowing that we are healed. Empower us to act in steadfast obedience to Your Word. Enlarge our faith through Your Word, and let Your power help us to live in faith. Thank You for Your faithfulness. Instantly we are made whole! Amen.

Sufficient!

Today's OneWord is "Sufficient"

God always answers the prayers of His children, but His answer is not always "Yes". Sometimes He will say, "Wait," or "No," Remember when Paul asks God to remove the thorn. However, God's answer to Paul was "No." Paul prayed a sincere prayer. He said concerning this thing, 'I pleaded with the Lord'.  Paul asked the Lord for help! He was serious about asking God to remove it! He pleaded! He got ugly when he prayed. Do you know that sometimes you have to get ugly with prayer? The Bible says, "The effective fervent prayers of the righteous avail much." If you want your prayers to mean anything to God, they must mean everything to you!

Paul was systematic when asking the Lord to remove this thorn. He asked not once, not twice, but three times. I can imagine the prayer went something like this: God please remove this thorn! God please give me some relief, and God please change my situation!

I know there are some of us today who are asking the Lord to help us, remove from us, give us, and ease this pain from us. However, God is answering us just as He did Paul. God answered Paul's request, but not in the way, that he expected Him too! God told Paul 'My Grace is sufficient for thee'. God was telling Paul I know you are my son! Paul you are even my peculiar apostle! Yes, you are my anointing one, but Paul the answer is still "No!" In God's wisdom and knowing His child...He did not grant the request...Sometimes God denies requests so that His children will lean and depend on His abundant GRACE. When we are without strength we have to look to God...He provides power by His GRACE.

This kind of grace is "Grace for Grown Folks" This kind of power is Grace for the spiritually mature folks! It is time out for the little kid's grace. By now, we should be using our "Grown Folks Grace"! We know the Word. We quote the Word, and we hear the Word. Then let us start using the Word.

God knows far better than we do what is best for us. His answer is always sufficient.

Question!

Today's OneWord is "Question"

Questions? What causes so many Christians to accept being average? What is holding us back? How is it that we have all power and authority, yet we live in so much bondage? We talk about the land of milk and honey every day, but we are stuck at the bank of the red sea! How long are we going to stand there? Do not allow people to give us Scriptures that they have not used! Ask them questions, "How did you use them?"

It is time out for just accepting what we have been told. God is always given us Word, but what are we doing with the Word we are given. How do you activate the Word in our lives? How do we make it a reality? How does our faith (things hoped for) become substance? How do we walk out the promises? We can have all the talk we want and all the ideas, but if we do not walk with boldness and confidence, we are undermining God's plans. We should be tired of being inspired and seek being transformed.

We should be tired of people speaking in tongues, being slain on the floor, at the altar every Sunday and no change in their lives. Religion has caused so many of us to know the Word, quote the Word, but die in the wilderness. I do not know about you, but I am not dying in the wilderness. My eleven-day trip is over. I am not wandering for forty years trying to get to land of milk and honey. I am going somewhere.

We have no more excuses. Rise up today, follow the path, seek His guidance, and look for the pillar of cloud by day and the pillar of fire by night. Today start asking questions.

Hallelujah!

New!

Today's OneWord is "New"

Father; we pray glorifying Your name. You are worthy to be praised! There is no one greater than You. We pray for You to give us better strategies for this day. Guide us into all truth. Father, would you allow us the peace of God? Would you give us joy? Order our steps according to Your Word and Your original plans and purpose for our lives. We declare and proclaim that peace and power is given to us to stand against all stress disorders, depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, and perfection disorders.

We affirm and decree that healing is given to Your children over high blood pressure, heart attacks, strokes, diabetes, arthritis, hypertension, and any condition that cause them to be kept in captivity. Your Word says in 3 John 1:2 "Beloved, I pray that you prosper in all things and be in good health, just as your soul prospers." I pray for Your WORD to take root and execute. I declare and direct we have the mind of Christ and seek things that are genuine and just.

Glorious Father, we honor You and we love You. You gave us another day, so we say thank You. We walk in freedom knowing we are victorious through Jesus Christ (The Holy One), designed for success, first and not last, and the head and not the tail. We have strength and authority because we are an overcomer, complete in Jesus Christ, a victorious woman, a man of valor, and living a victorious single life. We have become new because we are transformed by the renewing of our mind, blessed financially, and living a debt free life. We know promotions and wealth comes from You because we are walking into advancements on our jobs, loving our neighbors as we love ourselves, and realizing we belong to a royal priesthood. We have success because You are our Father, the Great I AM.

Father we are Unstoppable, Unlimited, Unusual, Unbreakable, Unspeakable, Favor, Relentless, Dunamis (Power), Unsilenced, Unblockable, Unchangeable, Unchallenged, Unrejectable, Undeniable, Unbendable, Unavoidable, Unboxable, Untouchable, Unbroken, Unmovable, Unwaverable, Unweaken, Undefeated and Fresh! You are these WORDS to us!

We pray to trust You with all thine heart and not rely unto our own understanding. We will acknowledge You in all our ways so You shall guide our paths. We proclaim and state according to Your Promises, that You shall provide all our needs according to Your riches in glory. We claim that Yokes are broken, and Your kingdom is glorified.

We pray this pray hits the bull's eye and RELEASE us into a NEW LIFE. Amen!

Reshaped!

Today's OneWord is "Reshaped"

The Lord said to Jeremiah, "Get up and go down to the potter's house, and I will give you my message there. So I went down to the potter's house and saw him working at the potter's wheel. He was using his hands to make a pot from clay, but something went wrong with it. So he used that clay to make another pot the way he wanted it to be. Then the Lord spoke His Word to me: "O house of Israel, can I not do the same to you as the potter has done to the clay? You are in my hands like the clay in the potter's hands" (Jeremiah 18:1-6).

Have you ever felt as if you were the least likely person God would use to accomplish His will? I can assure you God can mold us into what He wants us to become. He loves to use the weak and powerless to make a difference for Him. You know the story of Esther. Look at Esther's credentials. She came from a people who were living as outcasts in a foreign land. She had no higher education and no money. Matter of fact, she was an orphan, but God molded her into a queen, who saved her people from genocide.

Ester knew she was in the hands of God. We may not have the same experiences like Esther, but do not let people count you out. We can make a difference. Today take a walk into your histories and recognize those cracks that God reshaped. If you were once a harlot, He can reshape you. He transformed Rahab. If you were once an outcast, He can reshape you. He converted Ruth. If you were once an adulterer, He can reshape you. He changed "the wife of Uriah" (Bathsheba). If you once committed incest with an in- law, He can reshape you. He altered Tamar. What is so profound about these women is that when you read the genealogy of Jesus Christ in Matthew 4, you find their names.

They became part of Jesus' family through the sovereign grace and mercy of God! "God… is long-suffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance" (2 Peter 3:9). If He used naughty girls behaving badly in the Bible, He can remodel us. Sometimes we forget that we are the clay and He is the Potter. He had to adjust me. I was once a disobedient girl behaving badly, speaking badly, and living badly, but God looks at His creation now! No matter what your past may have been. Ask God to forgive you and make you over again.

As much as we do not, like whom we used to be, what we used to do or how we used to do it, He loves sinners and wants to save us. We cannot control the circumstances of life, but we can control how we respond to them. Live lessons are not coincidental, but beneficial. Some people think they have no power to affect change, but God works out the situation in our past for our advantage to complete His plan for our lives. Stop letting the past haunt you and remember you are in the hands of the Potter and He can transform you for such a time as now.

Thank You Lord. I am not what I want to be, but I know I am not what I used to be.

Better!

Today's OneWord is "Better"

Father let Your grace and favors increase in our life today. We break all spirits of the enemy against our finances, poverty, lack, debt, and failure in the name of Jesus. We are blessed coming in and going out. Jesus said in Luke 6:38, "Give and it will be given to me- good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over..." You are Jehovah-Jireh, our Provider. Shalom.

Your Love covers all areas in our life. All secrets, all hours of unnecessary worry, and all hurts. This morning when we arose and did not say Thank You God, forgive us. We know Your love covers that. When we were mean to our family, Your love covers that. Every broken promise, Your love covers that. Every cuss word, every area of pride, jealousy, and envy, Your love covers all that. (Ps. 86:5 NIV) "You are forgiving and good, O Lord, abounding in love to all who call to You."

For some of us, the journey has been difficult and stressful. In addition, sometimes in our mind seems unbearable. Some of us have been through difficulties that some could not handle or make it. Moreover, some are tired. However, despite everything You still speak and bless us. We know sometimes when it seems hard to press we have to learn to encourage ourselves. You have been too generous to us. You told us life would not be easy, but You promised us life would be worthwhile.

Father, we pray that You show us what we are created to do and allow us to do it well. Father support us to stay focused. Do not allow us to get in the way. Superimpose Your will over our will. We command this day and take authority of all things that were set up to frustrate, delay, set back, or hinder our day. We know that You honor Your Word. We long to know You more and more and conform to the image of Your Son. Lord gleam Your goodness upon us, and establish the work of our hands. Thank You that You created us with purpose. We worship and exalted Your Name
. Amen.

We love You. We are better than we used to be because of Your Word.

Ability!

Today's OneWord is "Ability"

Many times, we are afraid to step out of our comfort zone because we are focusing on the things we say are impossible or afraid to do. We can change our circumstances and current situations if we change our mind. We tend to focus on what is going to happen or what will happen whether than use faith to focus on what is happening. What we believe is what we speak. James 3:10 states that, "Out of the same mouth proceeds blessings and cursing. These things should not be." We must speak blessings in our lives not curses. We release what we believe. Do not speak it, if you do not believe it. Our heart and our mouth should align with what we want out of life. Jesus has given us the power of attorney to use His name, and that name is above every name. (Phil. 2:9-10)

Today our life speaks volumes for others to see. Our trails speak volumes, so others can have hope. Our lack speaks volumes, so others can believe. Our sickness speaks volumes, so others can be healed. We must believe that God has the power to do anything. We have to get our praying and our saying together. We have to know who He is when we pray.

This morning Father, we know You are our lawyer in the courtroom
Our Physician that heals
Our stain remover
The wall of fire that defends
Sun that enlightens
Friend that comforts
Ark that supports
Pearl that enriches
Prince of peace
You are our hope
You are our lifeline
You are faithful and true
You are the elect one
You are Stronger than death
You are Greater than Satan
You have no beginning and end
You are the author and finisher
You are the spotless Lamb of God
You are the great I AM
You are the only begotten Son
In addition, You are all things.

Therefore, we pray in Your Name. We are standing on the truth of Your Word because we know You have given us the Keys to the Kingdom. We bind our mind to the mind of Christ that we will be aware of how Jesus would have us think and believe. We will not react on our own human thoughts when situations arise suddenly because we know who You are.

Thank You for being all things to us. We may have mountains before us, but our ability with Your Word can move them. We love you and thank You for given us the authority and ability to create our moment. Amen.
